Regular season league matches are yet to start, but we have Summer League games to watch for the budding players making their claims for some regular NBA action. In the recent game, the Los Angeles Lakers took on the Golden State Warriors on Sunday. It featured young players on both sides looking to make enough noise to have their place on respective rosters for the upcoming season. In a surprise appearance, new Lakers signing Juan Toscano-Anderson found himself sitting courtside during the game. And there wasn’t any doubt as to which team he was supporting here – it’s his new employer’s LA Lakers.

Anderson posed for the camera as he proudly showed off his Kobe Bryant jersey. But the game was being played in the Warriors’ home court; he did make an effort to hide his affinity a bit here by dawning a black jacket over his Lakers jersey. JTA won a very recent NBA trophy in Dubs uniform.

Can Juan Toscano Anderson help LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers win a record 18th Championship?

Reigning champions Golden State Warriors were facing some trouble keeping up with available cap space. After spending much on salaries, the Dubs were the 30th team with the available cap space. They needed to chip away some of the role players. After seeing his deal with the Warriors come to an end at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, Toscano-Anderson was released by the Warriors.

But he quickly decided to take his talents to record 17-time NBA Champions Los Angeles Lakers by signing a one-year minimum deal with the team. The 29-year-old star played 73 regular-season games for the Warriors averaging 4 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists in limited time on the court. He might get some more court time in purple and yellow, after their last season’s lapses.

Juan shot 50% from the field while draining 1/3rd of his long-range shots. That percentage might be useful for the Lakers, especially with LeBron James calling the shot. It is too early to understand the perfect role for the local athlete at the Lakers franchise; we might have to check on all other trades/signings and departures to get more into the details. But a proven effective star would be a great signing for Los Angeles Lakers.

Talking about new additions, the summer league game itself had many prospects for the LA Team. It was the Lakers who came away with the huge victory in Sunday’s game, blowing out the Warriors, 100-77. Scotty Pippen Jr. stole the show again for the purple and gold, logging 15 points, eight assists, three steals, and zero turnovers in 20 minutes of action.

The Los Angeles team is looking to build a team around LeBron James, who is trying hard to repeat the 2020 Championship run with the Lakers. With fit Anthony Davis, LeBron James, and maybe a rejuvenated roaster, LA Lakers might put up a strong challenge for the title this season. Also, many eyes will be on the Russell Westbrook situation, whether he stays and play like his MVP seasons, or gets traded for another star to help the Lakers reach new highs.
