Julius Randle had a lot to celebrate on Wednesday night. The Knicks star had just helped his team stave off elimination with a 112-103 win over the Miami Heat in Game 5 of their second-round series. He also got to share a sweet moment with his wife, Kendra, who was waiting for him on the court as he walked off.

But not everyone was impressed by Randle’s post-game smooch. Kenyon Martin, a former Knicks player, ripped Randle for his gesture on Gilbert Arenas’ podcast “Gil’s Arena”.

We just got done playing a hard fought game in a playoff series and the first thing [Randle does] is you go kiss his wife. That’s the first thing you do? Where is your mind at? The very first thing he did, dawg, when the game was over,” Martin said.

I am sitting there watching the game with my wife. I’m like, ‘I love you to death, but ain’t no way in that incident. I’m gonna be with my guys. We just got done winning, I’m not even thinking about you.‘”

Randle did not address Martin’s criticism after the game, but he may have shrugged it off. The 27-year-old had a career year with the Knicks, averaging 25.1 points, ten rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game.

Randle’s celebration was short-lived, however, as the Heat bounced back and eliminated the Knicks with a 96-92 win in Game 6 on Friday night. The Heat used a balanced attack led by Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, who scored 24 and 23 points, respectively.

The Knicks had a chance to tie the game in the final minute, but they turned the ball over after a timeout. The Heat then grabbed the rebound and made their free throws to clinch the victory.

The Knicks’ only bright spot was Jalen Brunson, who scored a game-high 41 points on 14-of-22 shooting. Brunson outscored his entire supporting cast (13 field goals). Randle struggled throughout the series, shooting only 30-of-73 from the field and 3-of-14 in Game 6.

The Heat will now advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they will face the winner of the series between the 76ers and the Celtics. The Heat are looking to make their second straight trip to the NBA Finals after losing to the Lakers last year.
