On Saturday, The Golden State Warriors won against the Phoenix Suns. It was an action-packed game with many exciting moments. The game lasted until the very last second with Steph Curry‘s 3-pointer in the last second being the decider of the game.
Draymond Green and Jusuf Nurkic were face-to-face for the first time after Green’s return from suspension. Green was suspended after he struck Nurkic in the face in December. In today’s matchup things were heated up as both were seen going at each other with words.
During the post-game interview of Nurkic, he was asked about Green’s behavior tonight. To this, the player responded:
It's sad. He didn't learn anything. Just a matter of time until he hits somebody else again. I take back everything I said. He don't deserve a chance.
Green’s antics, doing things that he should not do, shows that nothing has changed after his return from suspension, said Nurkic. He added that the Warriors tried to play that way and won the game.
Nurkic was asked about why the Suns lost the game. He claimed that the team still has new players that they are trying to integrate, claiming that the team missed shots they should not have. He added that it is just one game and that things are only going to improve in the coming time.
Draymond Green was suspended indefinitely after striking Nurkic in the face
On December 12, during a game between Warriors vs Suns in Phoenix, Green struck Nurkic in the face which dropped him to the ground. Green was called with Flagrant 2 which got him ejected immediately.
Green’s repeated aggressive behavior was the reason the NBA suspended him indefinitely. Previously, he was ejected twice in the season. First after receiving two technical fouls against The Cleveland Cavaliers, and again after head-locking Rudy Gobert during a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The league stated that Green will “be required to meet certain league and team conditions before he returns to play”. He went to counseling during his suspension and returned after missing 12 games.
