Nicole Kidman and Kareem Abdul Jabbar
Kareem Abdul Jabbar has now been a regular name in the headlines and he is back again but this time his take isn’t around the NBA league or an athlete who is unvaccinated. But this time he has fired some bold, straight and very critical shots towards millionaire actress Nicole Kidman over her most recent $25 million project. Kareem Abdul Jabbar though this time has taken a jab towards the project but has left everyone confused as his take is senseless too many and he also hasn’t made his point clear about it while he just stretched up on him hating it and how the money used isn’t wise.

The project is an advertisement for promoting movies and theatres, especially the theatres. As since COVID-19 happened people have shifted to the digital world and now do most of their things online, especially the entertainment ones. So the AMC commercial which features Nicole Kidman has tried its best to bring the people back into the theatres and now it also has a second sequel coming out and even that will be written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Billy Ray. Many around though believe Kareem Abdul Jabbar will hate that one too.
AMC Theatres, are America’s largest cinema chain so they issued $25 million to bring people back to the theatres. Their first step was an advertisement featuring Nicole Kidman and Kareem Abdul Jabbar bashed them for it and even criticized the Oscar-nominated screenwriter Billy Ray. He is also not happy with their budget as he thinks that’s too much and is hating on the advertisement.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar criticizing the advertisement, actress Nicole Kidman and screenwriter Billy Ray wrote: “I hate this ad. I was shocked to read they spent $25 million dollars, that it has a rabid following, that people haven’t petitioned to have it removed. I get that the ad came out when AMC was desperate to get moviegoers back in the seats after the pandemic. I applaud their efforts. Nicole Kidman is a terrific actress and she’s the right age and has the right gravitas to be persuasive to a broad range of ages. The script was written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Billy Ray (The Hunger Games, Captain Phillips). The pedigree is great, but the content is not.”
Further, Kareem Abdul Jabbar also mentioned how Kidman irritated him by being overdressed and went on to criticize her as he wrote: “She doesn’t have to worry about the average people chomping popcorn beside her, so of course, she’s not concerned about COVID. Based on this ad, we never believe that Nicole Kidman EVER goes to a movie theater, so we feel like we’re being conned. The famous line- ‘Somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this.’—feels cheesy and insincere. Her frozen smile makes the line seem creepy, not touching. And, worse of all, I have to watch this ad while I’m ALREADY SITTING IN THE THEATER. You’re urging me to do what I’m already doing. Very annoying.”

Kareem Abdul Jabbar once again brought COVID-19 into the conversation to criticize the efforts but again he isn’t wrong doing that. The take may be senseless to many around as he is imbalanced this time. But still, some of his bold statements make sense and are correct. But the money being spent by the chain for getting back into the business has absolutely nothing to do with him. So his comments on it are a bit extra and unnecessary and even he understands their efforts and the reason behind them.
