Kareem Abdul Jabbar had Jimmy Fallon dancing on his show because of the answers he gave away by bringing up the evergreen basketball rivalry of the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers. In the league, during the mid-1980s the Finals were nothing but a beautiful showdown and war between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers. The Celtics had Larry Bird and the showtime Lakers had Magic Johnson with Kareem Abdul Jabbar. It was a worth watching match-up that not only lifted the league up but also generated a rivalry which won’t end anytime soon and the hate lives till the day among the players and even the fans too.

Both the teams met multiple times in the Finals and the results were always unpredictable as both the sides were strong enough to get the job done. As of now, both franchises are tied for 17 titles and the counting will continue. Boston Celtics though this year had a great chance to beat the Lakers by winning the NBA Finals but unfortunately the Golden State Warriors came out to be the better ones. The 1985 Finals was a special one for the Kareem Abdul Jabbar-led Los Angeles Lakers. As not many expected them to win it all and there were many critics and doubters questioning him and his legacy. The story was also same for the Celtics but they lived up to it while the Lakers got rid of it.

The Los Angeles Lakers in 1984 lost to the Boston Celtics in seven games. So them coming back up and striking harder to call a wrap-up in six games wasn’t expected by many in 1985. But Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul Jabbar got it done. The skyhook master dominated the rivals as he averaged 25.7 points, 9 rebounds and 5.2 assists in the Finals. His recent dig at the Boston Celtics has brought him back into the NBA headlines as the old heads and even the modern-day fans just love such wild exchanges.

On “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”, Kareem Abdul Jabbar was questioned about his favorite hot-dog topping and replying to it he gave away a sarcastic, mean and wild reply by quoting: “The tears of the 1985 Celtics when they lost to the Lakers in the finals.” Jimmy Fallon was expecting Mustard but Kareem Abdul Jabbar chose violence and fired out a sweet shot for his rivals. With whom now he’s made peace but the hate and competitiveness still live and such shots are normal between them as there was a time every player used to ride with it and hate their rivals.
