Karl Anthony-Towns became the center of blame after his team faced back-to-back losses against the Memphis Grizzlies previously. However, he was arguably the biggest reason why the Minnesota Timberwolves have entered the playoffs this season breaking their nearly two-decade drought. This series between the Grizzlies and Wolves has been gaining a lot of attention due to the intensity the rising stars of both parties have been bringing to the game.
Wolves are now tied with the Grizzlies in the series with high chances of seeing a shift in the narrative. Memphis is the obvious favorite to win in the first round after finishing their regular season as the 2nd seed in the Western Conference with 56 wins. Minnesota has been a big surprise due to the efforts taken by head coach Chris Finch.

It was not until the last few moments when the Wolves took advantage of their lead and the calls they were getting as Memphis tried to get their stops in between. With 8.3 seconds left, Anthony Edwards drained two crucial free throws to extend their lead by four points. The Grizzlies quickly answered with a three-pointer before fouling Karl Anthony-Towns for a chance to regain possession.
However, the play would not work in their favor at the end as Towns drained both free-throw with 4.4 seconds left. He finished with 33 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 assists in a major comeback from the previous two matchups. Desmond Bane led the Grizzlies with 34 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists and attempted to draw a foul while tying the game while draining a deep three-pointer. Ja Morant had 15 assists in the game along with 11 points.

Despite all the negative attention both teams have been receiving during this highly competitive series, Towns has kept his head held up. The emotions between both teams have been friendly and supportive. During these games, Tee Morant and Karl Anthony Sr., fathers of Ja Morant and Karl Anthony-Towns have been present showing their undying support as well.
Towns had lost his mother to the deadly virus which took a hit on the players’ mental health as she was his biggest supporter. After the end of Game 4, Towns shared an embrace with his father on the sidelines. Morant’s father had also taken the moment to appreciate KAT’s night despite having been on the losing end. Both teams will meet at the FedEx Forum in Tuesday for Game 5.
