4-time NBA All-Star Kemba Walker has signed a one-year contract with AS Monaco of the EuroLeague. After playing 12 seasons with the Charlotte Bobcats, Charlotte Hornets, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and most recently the Dallas Mavericks, Walker is making the move overseas for the very first time in his career.
After being waived by the Mavericks on January 6, 2023, Walker failed to attract any kind of interest from NBA teams. At 33, he still has a lot left in the tank and will be eager to prove to the world that he can still play at a high level. His deal with his new club is one of the largest transfer deals in Turkish Airlines EuroLeague history.
Walker averaged 19.3 points, 5.3 assists, and 3.8 rebounds in 750 regular-season games in the NBA. Unfortunately, he suffered multiple knee injuries that hindered his game at crucial stages in his career, the first one being back in 2015 when he tore the lateral meniscus in his left knee. In the 2020-21 season as a member of the Boston Celtics, Walker missed several games due to knee soreness and eventually received a stem cell injection in his left knee thereby leading to a 12-week strengthening program.
With his injury problems now seemingly behind him, Walker now moves on to the next chapter in his life with AS Monaco. The most interesting part is that Monaco finished third last year in the EuroLeague and beat Victor Wembanyama and Metropolitans 92 to win the French pro league title.
Which other former NBA players have played overseas apart from Kemba Walker?

Eric Bledsoe, who last played for the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2021-22 season, is currently playing for the Shanghai Sharks in the Chinese Basketball Association. Along with Bledsoe, former NBA players Tacko Fall and Thon Maker represent the Xinjiang Flying Tigers and the Fujian Sturgeons respectively in the CBA.
Former NBA Champion and 3-time Defensive Player of the Year, Dwight Howard is playing for the Taoyuan Leopards in Taiwan where he is putting up monstrous numbers on a nightly basis. Another very popular big man, DeMarcus Cousins is playing for the Mets de Guaynabo in Puerto Rico. Apart from current players, former legends of the game have tested competition abroad as well. The list includes big names like Allen Iverson, Stephon Marbury, Scottie Pippen, Magic Johnson, and Dominique Wilkins.
