2004 Detroit Pistons and Kendrick Perkins

Kendrick Perkins is back in the NBA headlines as he added one more hot take of his in the ongoing comparison of different NBA eras and the teams they had. The New Media Guy Draymond Green started it all this time but he isn’t the one to blame as the media members are doing it for years now. The former DPOY claimed that the 2017 Golden State Warriors can win over the 1998 Chicago Bulls and Utah Jazz too. He was confident with his tweet but was soon shut downed and clowned by fans around, even Richard Jefferson got a part of it. But out of nowhere and suddenly Kendrick Perkins also got into the conversation. As he brought another great team to the table and unexpectedly his take his making sense.

Kendrick Perkins has added another team to the ongoing comparison of different teams from different eras and he was riding with the 2004 Detroit Pistons. That really was a solid team who has the potential to destroy the whole league and that’s exactly what they did. As getting rid of the Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal led Los Angeles Lakers in 5 games during the NBA Finals they lifted up the title and outshined everyone by silencing their doubters and haters since most had Lakers winning it all. But the defensive greats of the Detroit Pistons got the job done. So Kendrick Perkins is right with his take as that team really can win over any team in a seven-game series but again you never know.

The 2004 Detroit Pistons were really different and their defensive end makes them unique. As they had Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, Chauncey Billups, Tayshaun Prince and Richard Hamilton starting most of the games for them. A godly starting line-up where defense weighs more but the job on the offensive end was also getting done. There is no doubt about the 2004 Detroit Pistons being one of the best defensive teams ever. As they didn’t just have Ben Wallace, the 4x DPOY hooping for them but the whole squad also suited up in a great defensive role too.

Kendrick Perkins adding another odd and hot take of his to the conversation via his personal Twitter handle wrote: “I strongly believe the 2004 Detroit Pistons would have beat ANY team in any ERA in a 7 game series! That is arguably the greatest defensive team in NBA History! Don’t mind me tho and Carry on…” His strong belief may be very right this time. But claiming them or any team of any era to beat any team from any era ever is just unfair and senseless. As there are fans and many names around the league who believe the Lakers would have got the job done in 2004 itself if they didn’t have some internal issues at the moment. But that doesn’t lower the value of the title as the Pistons earned it all and yeah their defensive end can surely win them many games against many teams but unfortunately, we will never know the results.
