“They have some interesting pieces but they need another perimeter shooter” Kendrick Perkins believes Miami Heat should acquire Bradley Beal to contest for NBA championship
Jimmy Butler and Bradley Beal... can they play together?
Erik Spoelstra’s Miami Heat failed to win a close game to Boston Celtics. Despite hard-fought efforts from Jimmy Butler, Heat came up short to register 2nd NBA Final appearance in 3 years. On the same note, Kendrick Perkins suggests Bradley Beal’s acquisition to help Miami make a final push in the playoffs.
Miami Heat was the top seed of Eastern Conference, keeping consistency in their performances, the team showed no effects of missing stars or injuries on their run in the regular season. Still, having a near-complete roaster against the resilient Boston Celtics was not enough. Jimmy Butler was at his best, for most of the series, but seemed like a lone warrior against the whole Celtics team. Kendrick Perkins, suggests that Miami Heat shall push for Bradley Beal, to clear the last hurdle and win a championship.
Erik Spoelstra may have expressed confidence in his team, stating that he is happy with what he has achieved at Miami. Yet there is no secret that the Heat team is in need of one more star player to carry the team with Jimmy Butler after failing to win it all twice in last 3 seasons.
Kendrick Perkins suggests Bradley Beal and Jimmy Butler duo for Miami Heat
While Miami might be working on the 2021 season outcomes, many analysts and fans started sorting down their plans for the upcoming seasons. Jimmy Butler remained the top player at Miami Heat and will lead them in the next seasons too. But as per the team’s performance in the postseason, many suggested that Miami needs a star player to win an NBA title.
Defensively Miami seemed very solid and they kept their regular-season form in the postseason too. With some veterans like Kyle Lowry, and Victor Oladipo Miami tried to build a championship squad, but matching up in the finals against a team like Boston Celtics was hard from the beginning.
Most of the analysts praised Miami for their team and collective efforts shown in 82 games but picked the Celtics over them for the Eastern Conference Finals series. The fact remains the same, Miami is too much dependent on Jimmy Butler’s offense and might go down easily if no other star shows off some scoring touch in a given game.
Former NBA Champion Kendrick Perkins also suggested that Miami need one offensive player, which they can easily acquire since they have many trade chips, and suggested that Bradley Beal could fit in perfectly.
Beal’s situation at the capital is also similar to Jimmy Butler, where he can rely on Kyle Kuzma for some offense. If he joins this talented Miami side, it will take some pressure off Jimmy Butler, and he can rely on Beal to drive the offense. He is a very good perimeter shooter, whereas Butler is more of a mid-range shooter.
Well, Beal has a 22+ points average over his career, and adding him to Butler would certainly upgrade the Miami Heat team, who missed on the NBA title in the 2020 finals. Stephen A Smith too agreed with Perkins and highlighted the difference in culture and team composition between Washington Wizards and Mimi Heat, supporting the idea of trade.
