The Utah Jazz has been working through a very confusing situation where nobody outside of the team and the front office knows exactly what is going on. Recently, we have witnessed several teams around the league make a decision to let go of superstars to rebuild themselves out of stagnation. It seems like they might be doing exactly that, if not now then at some point during next season.
Recently, league sources announced that the Jazz have been in talks with other teams to trade All-Star point guard Donovan Mitchell. The New York Knicks are the rumored favorites in this trade as they have been interested in acquiring him for long. The Knicks have the most trade assets including eight future first-round picks at their disposal.
Rudy Gobert opens up about trade to the Minnesota Timberwolves
A couple of week earlier, the Utah Jazz made the decision to trade their biggest piece Rudy Gobert. The three-time defensive player of the year has been the face of the franchise for close to a decade. The Jazz received Patrick Beverley and a few other role players which they could use as trade assets in the near future. The All-Star center opened up about the trade during the Wolves introductory press conference.
He said, “Quin was there for eight years, he was a big part of what we were doing. The window for winning is not always big. And for us, in Utah, that’s kind of what happened. I think the organization felt like we had maybe passed that window that we had over the last few years. I think they’re still obviously going to be a very competitive team, but they just felt like with all the assets that they could get with me, it was better for them to go that way.”

After the recent word of Donovan Mitchell being put up for trades, Kendrick Perkins feels like the Jazz are more than ready to get rid of him and will do it at some point during the season. “You look at Danny Ange, he is a guy that loves to build a team through the draft. He loves draft picks.We knows how he finessed the Philadelphia 76ers and got Jayson Tatum and got a pick back.”
“We saw he draft Jaylen Brown, we saw him draft Marcus Smart. You know all those guys came through the draft when you look at the Celtics roster. I thought this was the last opportunity for the Utah Jazz to prove something not only to him but the ownership. Think about this, Rudy Gobert is a three-time DPOY. Rudy Gobert is a future hall of famer in my eyes. And you trade him… Donovan Mitchell will be traded at some point of the season. I willing to bet everything I own and have in the bank account.”
