The number one picks in the NBA drafts are often donned as busts, even though they do not have such bad plays. This is not true for Anthony Edwards, the first overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft. As the Minnesota Timberwolves guard led the USA over a victory against Germany in the last practice game of the World Cup, many donned his as the “next face of the NBA.”

One such person was Kendrick Perkinswho praised the young man as he took to Twitter, “Ladies and Gentlemen, I think we may have found the FACE of the NBA!!! I believe his name is Anthony Edwards!” He has taken over the world in his first-ever stint for the USA in the matches. He is arguably the current national team’s best player.

As Edwards braces himself up for the big stage of the World Cup, he is making waves in the Basketball community with his playing style. Edwards was the man to look out for as he scored some critical points, ending at 34 points to gain a nail-biting victory over Germany with an ending scoreline of 99-91.

Not only Kendrick Perkins but Edwards also received praise from the likes of LeBron James and Steve Kerr, the head coach of the USA and Golden States Warriors. Praises were not stopping as the young man had a mind-blowing performance. 

Many took to Twitter and other social media applications to praise his performance, including Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The off-season has been a blessing for Edwards as he replicates the magic that he has been showing at the Timberwolves at the national and world level. 

In previous NBA season, Edwards averaged 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in the previous NBA season. He also bagged an all-star tag in just his third season. Owing to all this, he is a serious talent. The Timberwolves will be looking to add more teammates by his side to make their team a real threat.
