“Andrew Wiggins snatched his soul” Kendrick Perkins destroys Jayson Tatum after being PUNKED by Warriors stud in NBA Finals
Jayson Tatum and Andrew Wiggins
Knowing that 24-year-old Jayson Tatum had the most points amongst all and every player entering the 2022 NBA Finals, many expected him to unravel his wrath upon the experienced Golden State Warriors. Acknowledging the scoring prowess of Deuce’s father, Steve Kerr decided to place his ever-so-important stud Andrew Wiggins to guard the Celtics marquee.
Be it Game 1 or Game 6, Jayson Tatum was never able to leave his mark on the 2022 NBA Finals. While Jaylen Brown fought alone against the Warriors defense in Game 6, Tatum was blasted by Kendrick Perkins by giving up upon his team. The former NBA Champ went onto state how Tatum was ‘PUNKED’ by Andrew Wiggins throughout the course of all 6-games. To those who are not aware about the stats, against Wiggins, Tatum only averaged 21.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 7.0 assists in six games. However, Wiggins also forced him to shoot 36.7% and average 3.8 turnovers
Jayson Tatum couldn’t find his former against Andrew Wiggins
On the latest episode of Get Up, LeBron James’ former teammate dissected Jayson Tatum’s struggles against Warriors charismatic stud. The one-time champion pointed out that the Warriors star did what Tatum had done to Kevin Durant in the first round. The Celtics star did a tremendous job making Durant’s life miserable as the Brooklyn Nets were clean swept.
“What happened with Jayson Tatum is what he did to Kevin Durant in the first round,” Perkins said. “He got punk’d. Andrew Wiggins took, snatched his soul in this series. It’s part of the reason why you should be careful who you trained with in the offseason.
“At one point in time, Andrew Wiggins was training with the same guy that trains Jayson Tatum at this moment. So guess what happens? He knows his tendencies; he’s able to sit on his moves; he’s able to block his shots; he’s able to defend him well. This is what happens when you become so friendly.”
The 2022 NBA playoffs only went onto showcase just why Andrew Wiggins was an All-Star starter as he not only stopped Tatum, but the likes of Doncic and Desmond Bane and Nikola Jokic as well.
