“GOONS” Kendrick Perkins lashes out at Kevin Durant for giving ultimatum to Nets
Kevin Durant and Kendrick Perkins
Kevin Durant and his trade discussions once again found ruling the front pages, when the player and team owner Joe Tsai decided to meet. The agenda of the meeting was very much clear to sort out KD’s future, in either direction. But the details that came out of the meeting were more shocking than the trade request itself, as KD gave Brooklyn Nets an ultimatum for the trade, and proposes selection between either him or the GM and head coach. While speaking on the latest Kevin Durant trade developments, Kendrick Perkins didn’t hold back his disapproval.
Commenting on his personal verified Twitter account, Perkins said “KD requests a trade the day after the draft, all the shit hits the fan and a month later he doubles up and calls for the jobs of the GM and the Coach?” He would then say that ‘this generation is some goons,’ While the demand was a never-heard-before demand from KD, there are no advancements on either front as of now.
Kevin Durant made his stance clear on the Brooklyn Nets situation, forcing the franchise to lower the value with staunch demand.
2-time NBA Champion and Finals MVP Kevin Durant chose a day after the drafts to heat up the market. But after one month of non-productive activities, he decided to make a strong push again in order to force his way out of the organization. The main reason for his “failed” trades was the trade value Nets were hoping for their prized asset, and with demands made by KD, the Nets might lower their valuation.
Kevin Durant has chosen to either leave the Brooklyn Nets or stage a coup of the whole organization and have its two most prominent non-playing personnel fired. If Joe Tsai wants to maintain any semblance of being in control, KD has to go.
Still, one must feel for Durant since the Nets had two max contract point guards that seemingly didn’t share the same desire to win a title and had a head coach who looked desperate when he let Kyrie Irving play home games after saying the team wouldn’t accommodate a part-time player.
Opponent Teams are getting benefited from the meeting between Kevin Durant and Brooklyn Nets.
Having a player of Kevin Durant’s caliber on the team is a game-changer move. Brooklyn Nets experienced the same when they signed free agent KD in 2019, but couldn’t capitalize on the megastar’s stay. So now they are looking to rope-in maximum of assets and high-performing stars in exchange for him in the trade.
But other teams also have set their valuation for slim reaper, as Miami Heat, and Boston Celtics approached with their packages. Nets managed to shrug them all and made demands that they also knew will never be fulfilled.
Now, after the outcome of the meeting, the Nets have a clear goal to trade KD this summer only and may be forced to lower their demands. This will hand the Celtics and Miami Heat a legit shot at 12-time All-star. It is interesting to see, how things will develop in the coming days, but a KD trade is still a worthwhile gamble for any title-chasing franchise, and we might even see KD playing in a surprisingly different team than discussed earlier.
