The Lakers’ talent, athleticism, shooting prowess, and solid defensive identity were all lauded by Perkins. Following Davis’ outstanding effort in the Lakers’ 112-103 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, Perkins made his remarks. Even sporting a bandage on his nose from a first-half injury, Davis led the team with 30 points and 22 rebounds and made many keys plays down the line. Coach Darvin Ham even joked that Davis was playing like “Full-blow Wilt Davis.”
The Lakers center has a chance to put himself back in the conversation with other elite players like Giannis Antetekounmpo, Nikola Jokic, and Joel Embiid by finishing the regular season well, claims Perkins. Davis, in Perkins’ opinion, can demonstrate that he is the Lakers’ best choice and a franchise player.
According to the eight-time NBA all-star, the Lakers, who are now ranked ninth in the Western Conference, have a positive outlook. They will be a tough opponent for any team that has to play them in the first round, according to Perkins, who thinks they will advance to the playoffs.
Perkins also praised Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka for his actions around the trade deadline, which, in his opinion, improved the team’s prospects of going far in the playoffs.
