“This team is REAL and they are coming” Kendrick Perkins sends stern warning to all who doubted Boston Celtics ability against ‘favorites’ Stephen Curry, Warriors
The Boston Celtics are on the biggest stage of their lives this season on entering the NBA finals. Having to play a first timer roster is a task many believe may work for the better, but playing a fully experienced three-time championship winning team is scary. However, the Celtics have shown a brave heart throughout the season.
One attribute that we may have observed about this team is their effort towards constant growth. Initially during the season, the Celtics looked atrocious in terms of chemistry and how to use their players such as Jayson Tatum, who has been very valuable on both ends of the floor. That quickly turned around for the team and earned them the second spot in the Eastern division.
Jayson Tatum and Celtics shock the world after recovering from a double digit deficit during final minutes
The entire world was left baffled as the Boston Celtics pulled the unthinkable in Game 1. The Golden State Warriors dominated the first three quarters of the game with 32 points out of the first 12 minutes and then 38 points during the third quarter leaving the Celtics trailing by double digits. Pulling off a win seemed impossible but Jaylen Brown helped them get through. The Celtics had a 17-0 scoring run with under 2 minutes left.
Tatum had a few words following the victory, he said, “The message at the start of the fourth was, ’We’ve been here before.’ We know what it takes to overcome a deficit like that. Obviously that’s a great team. It’s not going to be easy. But just knowing we’ve been in that situation before and we’ve gotten our self out of it. We had a lot of time left, right? It wasn’t time to hang you head or be done. It was time to figure it out.”
Kendrick Perkins speaks on the Boston Celtics following Game 1 victory
Kendrick Perkins has been representing the Boston Celtics through the season. Early before the finals, he predicted that Celtics would win the title this year and it seems like it might come true at this pace. Following the victory, Perk spoke on the team saying, “They better respect big Al Horford like he didn’t out play Giannis in Game 4 in Milwaukee. Here’s the thing that I recognize about Jayson Tatum… he’s growing right before our very eyes.”
“Just because they call you a play, doesn’t mean it’s your shot. And he’s starting to get there,” said Perk. “He’s starting to make guy around him better. This is why we see this team being so lethal. Listen, I’m telling y’all man, this Boston Celtics team is real, coach Ime Udoka hold these guys accountable, he has put together a hell of a game plan.”
