“They have to trade him because the trust is broken” Kendrick Perkins urges how Celtics need to get rid of Jaylen Brown in order to aspire for a championship

Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics made an impressive push in the 2022 NBA playoffs. The team made had an incredible growth chart from the mid-table team to an NBA finalist, but the experienced Warriors had the last laugh as they lifted their 4th title. Recently, the Celtics became a prime-franchise to lure the services of Kevin Durant’s in order to fill their voids. The bid was seen as a desperate attempt to win a title since 2008, and the addition of the former MVP could very well give them the upper hand.
Boston Celtics offered to trade Jaylen Brown and Derrick White and a draft pick in exchange for Durant. Though Celtics were not KD’s preferred destination, it is indeed the team who have maximum say in the trade. Brooklyn Nets turned down the offer but it looks like the possibility of Brown being in the New York franchise. They negotiated for not only Brown but also Marcus Smart, two draft picks, and possibly another rotation player in exchange for Durant.
The franchise’s willingness to trade with Brown came under heavy criticism; especially since he was their star performer in the recent season. Also Brown expressed disgust with the situation. That caught Kendrick Perkin’s eyes and he delivers his message to his former franchise.
Kendrick Perkins wants Boston Celtics to win the Championship, which may come at the cost of Jaylen Brown
Boston Celtics are one of the most decorated franchises in the league. They have won record 17-NBA championships, but very recently the team failed to assert their historic dominance on the court. They just won 1 title since the iconic Larry Bird Era. So, when they looked to have a championship-caliber team, fans were excited to add talent, rather than disrupt the core.
But ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins thinks the other way. Former Celtics Champion reacted to the Celtics’ willingness to give up the All-Star name for one time. He said the ongoing dropping of Brown’s name by the Celtics every time the franchise needs to make a deal is a trust break. Brown, who was the best in Boston in the NBA Finals in Perkins’ opinion, may no longer believe in the franchise, according to Perkins.
Explaining his views, Perkins said, “That’s the problem I have. Every time it’s a trade and it has to be done, you can’t keep mentioning Jaylen Brown’s name, because sooner or later those apologies and ‘we love Jaylen Brown’ and that, he wouldn’t believe it no more.”
He added, “It’s really, maybe unbelievable right now, and I’m going to go out on my limbs and say this here, and it’s not a hot thing: They’re going to have to trade Jaylen Brown. They’re going to have to trade Jaylen Brown, because I feel, so far, that trust has broken down. And we should always remember this: Danny Inge coined Jaylen Brown, not Brad Stevens.”
Jaylen Brown had fared well in the 2021-22 NBA season. He averaged 23.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game and shot 47.3%, recording 8.7 shots from 18.4 attempts. He was crucial to the Boston Celtics’ success and was often taunted as the second-best player in nearly every category.
Also Brown was phenomenal on both offense and defense for the Celtics. But adding 2-time NBA champion and Experienced Kevin Durant would be a great opportunity that the Celts wouldn’t want to let go of. So franchises will be accessing the price and may make a move, but Big man has some valid points, that shall be taken into consideration too.
