After they managed to finish one-win behind San Antonio Spurs, the LA Lakers were knocked out of the postseason after a sloppy and inconsistent run. However, ahead of the start of the 2022-23 season, Kenny Smith believes he has the answer on how the purple and gold franchise could turn the table around in their favor.

Steph Curry owes a lot to his career, because before Mark got there, Steph Curry wouldn’t even play in 4th quarters. We wouldn’t think he was a great player, a great defender.”

Kenny Smith then made a claim that Lakers fans will absolutely love to hear. To those who are not aware, Mark Jackson’s only NBA head coaching experience came with the Warriors from 2011-2014. But Jackson showed great prowess as a head coach and it is a bit surprising that he has not coached since 2014. Following a difficult beginning in Golden State, he led the Warriors to back-to-back playoff appearances during the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 campaigns.

LeBron James, Lakers are in dire need to make significant changes in order to contest for the championship next season. Perhaps after Frank Vogel getting sacked, a secure and strong name at the top could once again bring aspiration among each Laker fan. Does Mark Jackson have any chance of coaching the likes of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and other stars in the next season? Remains to be seen.
