Kevin Durant was in Greece supporting his former team-mate in a EuroLeague Quarterfinals game. But the reception at the court was hostile for him.
After an early exit from the 2022 playoffs, Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant was attending a EuroLeague quarter-final match between Olympiacos Piraeus and AS Monaco, in Greece. But Basketball fans didn’t let him have an easy time in the city too as he was on target again, this time by international fans on international soil. The NBA megastar was briefly introduced on the broadcast, but the reception was opposite to what was expected. It rather prompted Olympiacos supporters to start jeering in the middle of the nice quarterfinals game, which the home team won eventually.
NBA has a global reach and KD is one of the star players who is widely followed all over the world. He was attending the game to support his former team-mate Mike James (with Nets between April 2021 to Sept 2021), who happen to be playing for the visiting AS Monaco. This could explain most of the negative reception, as when he was introduced by the presenters on the big screen, home fans “booed” him the whole time, disapproving of his presence in the game.

Elite player Kevin Durant has seen most love and even hate till now. The 2012 NBA Finalist Kevin was the centerpiece of the Oklahoma City Thunders team until he decided to fulfill his championship dream with another contender team and moved to the Bay area.
Kevin Durant signing with an already champion and star-studded team received a very negative response from the fans, but Durant stick to his beliefs and won 2 consecutive championships (2017, 2018) with the Warriors. He even won the NBA Finals MVP award on both those occasions.
But his production on the court was widely neglected by his haters and his Loyalty, commitment, and ability to win the championship single-handedly were considered measures to degrade his achievements. Durant then moved to Brooklyn Nets to silence the “naysayers” and deliver Larry O’Brien Trophy to a franchisee who has never won it before.
During his 3 seasons with the nets, Slim Reaper had some brilliant performances and even showed his class carrying the team to the postseasons on 2 different occasions. But after playing in 3 different Playoff series in the East, the Durant-led team managed to win just 1, forcing them out of the competition early.
On recent negative reception though, KD laughed it out and even shared a video of Olympiacos celebrations. KD’s ex-team-mate Mike James was the top scorer in the game with 26 points for the losing side. KD was a guest at the Monaco home court also, where James’ team won the game (their 1st ever win in EuroLeague playoffs) forcing game 5 in the series. But now with the loss in Olympiacos, AS Monaco can start preparing for the next season.
