Quite a few fans may believe that Kevin Durant‘s resume does not include enough accolades to rank him among the game’s greatest. The Phoenix Suns’ superstar completed most of his achievements while playing for the Dub Nation.

Kevin Durant, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in NBA history, has won two NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors. This is in addition to an NBA Most Valuable Player Award, two Finals MVP Awards, two NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Awards, four NBA scoring titles, and the NBA Rookie of the Year Award. However, fans still don’t see him in the same bracket as the legendary Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

Durant was speaking with the Arizona Republic’s Duane Rankin, who had asked him why he isn’t more often involved in the NBA’s greatest of all time (GOAT) conversation. He responded:

Because I went to the Warriors. Why shouldn't I be in that? That's the question you should ask. Why not? What haven't I done?

When Durant chose to depart from the Oklahoma City Thunder and join the Golden State Warriors, a move made after the Warriors had lost to a LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals, it was met with disapproval from fans. Many perceived the team as already well-equipped, making Durant’s quest for a championship ring seem almost aesthetic.

Despite the controversies surrounding his team choices, there’s no disputing the greatness of Kevin Durant, particularly with respect to his exceptional scoring prowess. Between 2010 and 2014, he clinched four scoring titles, distinguishing himself as one of only two players to achieve such a feat within a five-year span.

Durant hits 40 points as Phoenix Suns win five in a row

Kevin Durant spearheaded the Phoenix Suns to their fifth consecutive home victory, triumphing over the Indiana Pacers with a score of 117-110. The standout performance included 40 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Impressively, the potent trio of Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal contributed a combined 91 points for the second consecutive game. Booker delivered 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists, while Beal added 25 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists to secure the win.

Speaking after the win, Durant said:

I felt like they played us straight up. And when teams do that, we're going to be aggressive.

Durant this season is averaging 29.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.6 assists. Next for the Phoenix Suns is a home game against the Chicago Bulls.
