Kevin Durant and Grant Williams collided during Thursday night’s matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns at the American Airlines Center. The game marked the resurgence of rivalries between the two teams from the Western Conference division. The Phoenix Suns prevailed 132-109 in what was an entertaining game of basketball.

In the opening moments of the first quarter, around the fourth minute, Jusuf Nurkic strategically positioned himself in a defensive screen to protect Durant from his marker, Grant Williams. However, Grant’s aggression escalated as he forcefully pushed Durant to the ground and even stepped over him. In response, Nurkic intervened by shoving Williams aside, coming to Durant’s aid.

The tension nearly erupted into a melee, with Durant wagging his fingers in Grant Williams’ direction and Williams engaging in a clash with Jusuf. Quick intervention from players on both sides prevented further escalation, as they rushed in to separate the warring parties.

As a consequence, the referee handed out technical fouls to all three players for their roles in the heated altercation. Devin Booker scored 46 points, and said the following after the game:

He just, he wants to do the antics man. We’re out there trying to hoop so you know give probs to Nurk for holding that down. If I would’ve seen that, i would’ve done the same thing, that’s how we get down. We’re not with the nonsense.

After the game, Durant playfully took to Instagram to troll the Mavericks’ Grant Williams with a meme. Despite the on-court clash, Durant managed to finish the game impressively with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.
