Kevin Durant is largely considered one of the greatest prolific scorers in NBA history. He has been averaging 32.6 ppg in the last 7 games for the Nets this 2022-23 season. The Brooklyn Nets superstar climbed to the 19th spot passing Vince Carter on the NBA’s all-time scoring list against Indiana Pacers in their 2nd game in the week. With 25754 points, Kevin Durant is now ranked 19th all-time in points scored.

As a child KD idolized and watched the former dunk master. The eight-time all-star was his idol and years later on Monday the two-time NBA champion outscored the Nets icon to move up to 19th all-time in NBA scoring. Weighing on the feat, KD said, “Vince Carter was the first player I watched and idolized as a kid. So, it’s pretty cool to pass him up. I am glad that I am doing it in the Nets’ uniform.”

When asked about his scoring feat; “It means a lot,” said KD on passing Vince Carter on the NBA’s all-time scoring list during his postgame interview. “I love to score the ball. I mean that’s the name of the game. That’s why we play basketball; to put points on the board and to shift the game and be mentioned with the greats. To pass somebody I looked up to as a kid, my first NBA jersey was Vince Carter when he was in Toronto so this is a full-circle moment for me…”

The former Golden State star has been under heavy scanner after leaving the Bay Area to join forces with Kyrie Irving. The Nets are now 2-5 in 7 games and sit at the 12th spot in Eastern Conference. It will be interesting to see how the Nets perform, considering that a large number of NBA gurus are taking the Nets to get out of Eastern Conference.

After their first win against the Raptors in the 2nd regular game, the Brooklyn Nets were on a 4-game-losing streak against some of the top teams in the NBA including Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks, and Memphis Grizzlies. The last two losses that came against the Pacers and the Mavericks were home games. Both Kyrie and Durant filled the stat sheet in their win against the Pacers on Monday. KD scored 36 pts in 39 minutes and Kyrie scored 28 pts in 42 minutes.

As presently constructed the Brooklyn Nets have pretty much every kind of offensive arsenal in their bag but their defense has been the one where the team is looking to improve. Despite adding Ben Simmons, who is known for his lockdown defense on big players the Nets rank down at 119.1 on the defensive rating in the 2022-23 season. Simmons has been non-aggressive on the offensive and the defensive end and he has also been facing foul troubles.
