Kevin Durant and Stephen A. Smith

Kevin Durant appeared to enjoy ESPN’s “First Take” on Tuesday as Stephen A. Smith took criticism for questioning Russell Westbrook’s appearance at new Lakers coach Darvin Ham’s inaugural press conference on Monday by JJ Redick. Redick gently questioned Smith what he had against Westbrook for bringing up that “random” take, while McCollum emphasized that it was a “wild” take because there is nothing wrong with a player supporting his new Lakers coach and the franchise.

Kevin Durant and Stephen A. Smith’s recent feud on the internet

This conflict started when Smith claimed on ESPN’s “First Take” earlier this week that Michael Jordan is to blame for the downfall of basketball because he was “so spectacular that the NBA marketed the person, forcing the game to become more ‘individualized’ — because everyone wanted to be like Mike.” The footage was criticized by Kevin Durant stating: “My theory is that guys like Steve, Skip and Shannon have changed the game for the worse. Playas like Stephen and Michael can only push the game forward,”  he tweeted. Since 2015, when Kevin Durant was linked to the Lakers by Stephen A. Smith, Durant has labelled Smith a liar and accused him of falsifying reports.

“Him being at that press conference yesterday — actually to me — I didn’t like it”, Smith stated without providing any supporting data. Co-hosts JJ Redick and CJ McCollum slammed Stephen A. Smith for his Russell Westbrook impression. Redick asked, “What is your issue with Russell Westbrook being at that press conference?” . “That’s a wild thing for you to say,” McCollum added. “Him supporting his team, his organization, his coach! You’re disappointed in that? You said that he shouldn’t have been at that press conference, that’s foul.”

Kevin Durant was clearly ecstatic to see Redick and McCollum attack on Stephen A. Smith, who he has had a long-running feud with.

“Steve can’t beat up on Max Kellerman the boxing guy and the new baseball guy “mad dog” or whatever his name is?” Durant tweeted . “I’m locked in now.” he added.
