The power equation in the Western Conference changed significantly after Kevin Durant‘s move to the Phoenix Suns in the midseason trade. He joins forces with players like Chris Paul and Devin Booker, making the Suns a legit title contender. After his introduction in front of a large Phoenix crowd, the star acknowledged that the team has all the right pieces to become successful; however, he also admitted that there is pressure to be successful simultaneously.

Durant was unveiled in front of a large crowd of 3,000 fans outside the Footprint Center. When asked if there is any pressure on him and his team to succeed, the two-time NBA Finals MVP admitted there is. “It’s pressure because I’m one of the best players to ever play the game,” he said. His statement that he was one of the greats drew many cheers from the crowd.

Before the Suns’ home game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the 13-time All-Star also stated that he understands the expectations that come with being a player of his calibre. “Every time I step on the floor, people are gonna expect me to do great things and the team I am on do great things,” he said. For the superstar, this is an opportunity to get healthy and make the most of the opportunity that has been presented to him at this point in his career.

Kevin Durant says 16  games with Kyrie Irving and James harden wasn’t enough to win a championship

Trio in Brooklyn

For many, the combination of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden was one of the most fearsome offensive trios ever assembled. Many believed they would capture the silverware just because of their devastating offensive. Nevertheless, due to a number of defined and undefined factors, the trio disbanded after only a few years without even making it to the conference finals.

Durant said a big reason for their failure was lesser time on the court with each other. “We just didn’t get on the court enough,” Durant said. “I think when you seen James, Kyrie and myself, it was amazing basketball for [16] games, but in order for you to win a championship and be a great team, you just need more time on the floor,” he said.

He refused to go into the details of what transpired behind the scenes. Despite the failure to come together as basketball players, Durant admitted that as a player, he learned a lot from them. “It’s another story about why we didn’t get on the floor together, but we just didn’t get enough time on the floor. And those are Hall of Fame players that I learned a lot from every day. I’m wishing them the best as well. It just didn’t work out,” he explained.
