Achilles injuries in any sport can mean the end of a player’s career if they, unfortunately, suffer one. Kevin Durant was one of those players who went through such an injury in the 2019 NBA Finals, which took him a whole year to recover from. Luckily for Durant, he fully recovered and went on to perform very well for the Brooklyn Nets.
Unfortunately, his friend Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets in the NFL might have ended up suffering the same injury, which could have more significant consequences for Rodgers as he is in the 19th year of his long, illustrious career. In his debut for his new team, he only played for a few downs before he was taken off the field. Initially, it was considered an ankle sprain, but it was later revealed it might be something serious, possibly even an Achilles tendon tear.
Durant expressed his disappointment with the injury and tweeted out his support for his friend as he tweeted, “I’m so sick right now. Get well soon 8…” (8 being Aaron Rodger’s jersey number)
Rodgers came to the Jets this season after spending 18 years with the team that drafted him, the Green Bay Packers. He joined the Jets to end their 13-year playoff drought and even took a pay cut to help the team add more talent, aiming to push the team to a Super Bowl. Rodgers getting injured puts a thorn in the side of the Jets’ plans. While they won the game against the Buffalo Bills 22-16, maintaining consistency without Rodgers at the helm will be challenging.

How serious is Aaron Rodgers’ injury?
Aaron Rodgers suffered the injury after he was sacked in the fourth play of his debut for the New York Jets. In the fourth minute of the game, Rodgers was sacked by Leonard Floyd of the Bills, causing Rodgers to land awkwardly on his feet. While he stood up and walked for a few seconds, he had to get help to reach the Jets sideline.
He was then carried on a vehicle to the locker room, where he was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Many around the league suspect it to be an Achilles tear, which could severely impact the Jets’ playoff chances and potentially mark the end of Rodgers’ career. Their backup quarterback, Zach Wilson, helped the team win the game, but without Rodgers, their chances are slim.
