It is not new for former NBA players to make suggestions on changes that the league needs. However, sometimes the changes they suggest might raise eyebrows across the NBA fraternity. Famed former Boston Celtics forward had a recent suggestion for the All-Star weekend that had many NBA fans confused. Kevin Garnett recently proposed an All-Star rap tournament featuring the top 10 NBA rappers of the season. As per suggestion, the prize money for this contest would be $1M.
The NBA All-Star weekend is one of the highlight events of the tournament. Top-performing players across all teams participate in various contests and put up exciting performances. The All-Star weekend is also the hub of competitive yet friendly matchups between players. The various attention-grabbing contests in the all-star weekend are the slam dunk contest, three-point contest, skills challenge and the NBA All-Star celebrity game. The weekend comes to an end with the NBA All-Star game featuring the best performers of the season.
Kevin Garnett has had a healthy influence in the NBA during his playing days. He made his first appearance in the league when he was picked by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 1995 NBA Draft. Having an impressive first couple of seasons, Garnett featured in the All-Star game in his second season for Minnesota. He led the Timberwolves to their first playoff appearance in the same season. Garnett proceeded to play for the franchise till 2006.
Garnett was then traded to the Boston Celtics where he paired up with the likes of Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. Now playing for the Celtics, Garnett played an impressive first season in Boston as he was declared the NBA Defensive Player of the Year. The forward led the Celtics to the NBA finals a couple of times before he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. Garnett retired from the NBA in September 2016 and became a commentator in an NBA-themed television show.

How is NBA Twitter reacting to Kevin Garnett’s suggestion for Adam Silver?
While Kevin Garnett is widely respected as a player, not many have shown their fondness for his recent suggestions. NBA fans on Twitter are known for their unfiltered comments with a wicked sense of humour.
They certainly haven’t shied away from mocking Garnett for his Rap tournament suggestions. Fans have made all kinds of comments with one user saying, “David Stern rolling in his grave right now.” Here are the other reactions:
Although many fans have expressed their disapproval of the idea, many have proposed an alternative. While some say that a 1v1 match between players would be interesting, some want changes to the All-Star game. Many fans want the all-star game to go back to the older ‘East vs West’ format while the players play with a more competitive spirit. However, whether or not the NBA makes these changes would not be a guarantee. Although the likeliness of these changes is low as of now, it will be interesting to see how players perform in the new format. A 1v1 matchup certainly sounds interesting. However, as of now, the league will stick to their current format.
