Miami Heat forward Kevin Love had a night to remember at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. Not only did he help his team pull off a 108-101 upset over the New York Knicks in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series, but he also put on a passing clinic in front of one of the best passers in NFL history, Aaron Rodgers.

Love, who joined the Heat in March after being traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers, had 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in 16 minutes of action. But it was his full-court outlet pass to Jimmy Butler in the third quarter that stole the show and ignited the Heat’s offence.

Love’s pass was so impressive that they drew comparisons to Aaron Rodgers, the star quarterback of the New York Jets, who was sitting courtside at MSG. Love revealed after the game that he joked with Rodgers about having a better quarterback rating than him in New York City. “I told Aaron Rodgers I’ve got the best quarterback rating in New York City,” Love said.

Love’s outlet passes have been a trademark of his game since his days with the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he earned the nickname “The Outlet King”. He has been praised for his vision, accuracy and timing in finding his teammates down the court with pinpoint passes.

Aaron Rodgers is no stranger to making spectacular passes on the football field. The nine-time Pro Bowler and three-time MVP has been one of the most dominant quarterbacks in NFL history, leading the Packers to a Super Bowl title in 2011 and setting numerous records along the way.

Rodgers, who was sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden, watched as Love threw that amazing full-court pass that resulted in the easy bucket for the Heat. Love’s teammates also come to love his addition, Kyle Lowry, who scored an impressive 18 points off the bench, said highly of him in the post-game press conference.

Love has been a valuable addition to the Heat’s roster, providing veteran leadership, floor spacing and playmaking. He has also won a championship in 2016 with the Cavaliers, alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.

The Heat will be hoping for more of those passes from Love in Game 2 as they look to earn another road win in New York and take a commanding lead in the series. The Knicks, on the other hand, will have to find a way to stop Love’s outlet passes and limit the Heat’s transition opportunities. Game 2 takes place on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.
