“He turned it off with Houston, he turned it off in Brooklyn” Kevin Wildes urges James Harden to once again believe in himself of Sixers fans
James Harden
James Harden surely hasn’t been at his veteran best ever since he has left Houston Rockets couple of seasons ago. Since then, the Beard has played alongside marquee figures Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Joel Embiid, but hasn’t been able to find his rhythm. On the same note sports media personality, Kevin Wildes feels how Harden is able to switch his game off and on at will.
Now that Joel Embiid has been out in the initial games for Philadelphia 76ers in their semi-final series against Miami Heat, James Harden hasn’t been able to lead the troop efficiently. Moreover, Harden’s lack on intent and competitiveness has been evident on the court. Upon which Wilde went onto reveal his opinion on the latest episode of First Things First.

Kevin Wilde on James Harden
Wildes addressed James Harden’s primary issues during the postseasons. He suggested that the former MVP turned his abilities and motivation off when he wanted to exit Steve Nash’s Nets in February but never turned them back on.
He said, “Here’s the weird thing about James Harden. He has the ability to turn it on and off at his discretion. Sixers fans and basketball fans in general want him to turn it on: ‘Man, believe in yourself. Don’t take just a handful of shots in the second half. We need you when Embiid’s not here.’ So the ability for him to turn on and off is the most confusing part of his game.”
Given that in the absence of Embiid, Harden was expected to spit fire in order for the Sixers to have any chance against top-seeded Heat. Statistics have told quite the opposite story. James Harden went 1-for-5 in the second half of a 119-103 Game 2 loss on Wednesday, posting another half with just four points. He went 0-for-3 in the fourth quarter and ended up with just two points off two free throws. Harden finished with 20 points.
With many questioning the Philadelphia 76ers, and James Harden’ intent in the semi-final series, will we witness the Beard being able to step on the gas as the festivity return to Wells Fargo Center? Remains to be seen.
