Kobe Bryant played for the Los Angeles Lakers for 20 years and retired in 2016. Four years ago, the NBA world lost one of the most impactful players in history. Bryant, along with his daughter, tragically passed away in a helicopter crash. Bryant had an amazing NBA career.
The Lakers veteran won five championships and broke many records for the team. Bryant will always be remembered by Lakers fans for his contribution to the organization. To honor Bryant and his legacy, the Lakers unveiled the player’s statue outside Laker’s Crypto.com arena in February. Fans were overjoyed to see Bryant get included in the Lakers’ legends list.
But a few weeks after the unveiling of the statue, fans have spotted multiple errors on the statue. Some of the names are misspelled. While writing about Bryant’s historic 81-point game, in the box score one of his teammates, Von Wafer, and the opposing team’s Toronto Raptors‘ Jose Calderon‘s names are misspelled. Including misspelling ‘coach’s decision’.
Fans were furious to notice the mistakes weeks after the unveiling and demanded it to be fixed. It seemed as if the organization was aware of the mistakes.

Kobe Bryant will get three statues outside the Laker’s arena
During the unveiling ceremony of the first statue in February, including many basketball legends, Bryant’s wife Vanessa Bryant was present. While she was giving her speech, it was revealed that the statue was the first of the three for the star in Los Angeles.
In the already unveiled statue, Bryant is celebrating his 81-point game and has the number 8 jersey on. In the other two, one statue will be Bryant wearing the number 24 jersey which he changed from number 8 later in his career. And the last one will be alongside his late daughter Gianna Bryant, outside the Laker’s Crypto.com arena.
The exact date of unveiling of the next two statues is yet to be announced. Bryant has joined the company of Lakers legends, including Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, and Shaquille O’Neal. Bryant’s amazing career with the Lakers is certainly an essential part of the organization’s history.
