A young, 19-year-old Anthony Davis first announced himself at the big stage for Team USA at the London Olympics, in 2012. The then New Orleans Pelicans star had only recently been picked as the number 1 pick of the 2012 NBA draft and had the sky as the limit.
Now an 8-time All-Star and an NBA champion, there are some moments that AD is bound to cherish. That includes a particular exchange with the late LA Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant. Davis, who followed in Kobe’s footsteps to the LA Lakers back in 2019, had been taken under his wing during this particular tournament.

Now, a video on Twitter, posted by ADmuse, has attracted attention. The clip shows a simple interaction between Bryant and Davis, as the former tells the youngster that he should not be hiding his ‘unibrow.’ Davis was wearing sunglasses, which he promptly took off, much to Kobe’s delight. He had said:
You don’t wanna hide the unibrow. That is your trademark man!
Davis, who was not initially slated to be part of the tournament, was added later after Blake Griffin suffered an injury. The gold-medal campaign proved as ideal as it could possibly have been, as it also led to Davis being taken under Bryant’s wing.
Anthony Davis created a brand out of his ‘unibrow’
The unibrow Bryant was referring to has effectively become a brand icon of sorts. A Kentucky native, Davis had a unique biological feature right from childhood and was recognized as ‘The Brow’ even when he was back in college.

Since then, the brow has become synonymous with Anthony Davis, as far as NBA fans are concerned. He has smartly been able to market the name, which has featured in a range of marketing campaigns and Nike slogans over the years. The player, hilariously enough, has often talked about how he was initially bullied for it, and people would ask him to shave off the brow.
However, for AD, it is very well a part of his identity, with phrases such as ‘Fear the Brow’ and ‘Raise the Brow’ already having been trademarked by the big man. Now 30, as Davis edges towards the final stages of his career, there is little doubt that the brow will continue to be a very part of his identity.
