“What did you mean by that comparison” Kyle Kuzma fires back at Chris Webber for mercilessly comparing Draymond Green to Wes Welker

Kyle Kuzma and Draymond Green

If there is one player who seems to have gathered any sort of attention towards himself apart from Stephen Curry, it is none other than former DPOY Draymond Green. Not only has the Golden State veteran been well-below expectations on the court, but his off-court antics haven’t brought any fruitful result as well. But even whilst going through his worst-phase in the 2022 season, it seems like the young chaps of NBA have no second thoughts to rush to Draymond Green’s defense.

When Chris Webber unfairly compared Draymond Green to Wes Walker, Kuzma was quick to rush to defend the former player. But was Webber wrong? Especially after knowing that in game 3 Draymond had more fouls than points, rebounds or assists. As a result of his performance, Steve Kerr decided to bench Green during clutch time in the fourth quarter of Game 4.

Chris Webber interestingly compared Draymond to ex-NFL receiver. With that said, nobody can figure out if he meant it as a diss or as a compliment or something else completely. Even Webber didn’t really seem to understand his own comparison.

The Washington Wizards player took it the wrong way and assumed the worst from Webber, and in return, he quickly came to Green’s defense. He noted how Welker was a solid contributor for whatever team he had been on, and in the same way, Draymond is just as impactful.

Clearly Webber did not research well enough before using this comparison in a derogatory manner. In 13 playoff games, Welker caught 88 passes for 866 yards and five touchdowns at an average of 66.6 yards per game. Further, he was also a big contributor in the regular season, sliding in as one of the best slot receivers of the 2000s and 2010s.

Perhaps Green should keep the voices of Webber out of his mind as he has a pretty important game 5 to focus upon. Will the Golden State Warriors be finally be available to take the top honors in this series? Remains to be seen.
