“If he gets going, LeBron is winning his 5th ring” Laker Nation goes berserk as purple and gold sign free agent Thomas Bryant

“If he gets going, LeBron is winning his 5th ring” Laker Nation goes berserk as purple and gold sign free agent Thomas Bryant

Thomas Bryant Joins Los Angels Lakers and LeBron James

Los Angeles Lakers are making some strong additions to their star pair of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. After the bizarre 2021-2022 season, the LA Lakers are looking to add some talented stars that can make the team competitive again in the coming seasons. They tried making most of their picks in the draft lottery and with limited resources at hand they are making some free agent signings to fill up empty roster spots. But interestingly this season, the Lakers are looking to invest in young players rather than veterans for the 2023 season.

As per ESPN reports, 17-time NBA Champions recently signed center Thomas Bryant from the free agency, adding some depth near the rim.

Thomas did play for the Los Angeles franchise in his rookie season but was waived later. Now Addition of “experienced” Bryant would be a compulsive decision by the front office, as they are keeping their options open for any possible mega trade this summer. Also, the addition of some of the star kids like Scottie Pippin Jr., and Shareef O’Neal gives the Lakers trio of “O’Neal-Pippen-Bryant” in their ranks, a mere delusive greatest combo around LeBron James.

Thomas Bryant is sadly not remotely related to Lakers legend Kobe Bryant but possesses sufficient skill sets to play in the NBA. He was drafted by Jazz in 2017, and after being traded to the Lakers, he was waived. But He did manage to land in Washington, making useful contributions as a role player.

24-years-old star averaged 7.4 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 52.0 percent from the floor in 27 games last season. Bryant will compete to be the starter in a center rotation that also includes Damian Jones. 30-year Jones also signed a one-year contract earlier this offseason. But Bryant brings another level to the center position with the ability to shoot from three-point range. He is a career 35 percent shooter, albeit in limited attempts.

The 6-foot-10 center, Bryant has career averages of 10.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. He has established himself as a productive offensive big man since getting extended playing time in the capital. A five-year pro averaged 13.2 points and 7.2 rebounds in 46 games during the 2019-20 season, his best year as a pro, before the knee injury further limited his development.

Bryant joins a host of other youngsters like, Shareef O’Neal and Scottie Pippen Jr. who joined the Lakers in the month of June. Shaquille O’Neal’s son, who trained with the Lakers before the Draft but went undrafted, has played in the NCAA for UCLA and LSU. But injuries limited his game time. And Pippen’s son signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he can play for both the NBA team and their G League side.

With these signings, Los Angeles Lakers are providing Darvin Ham and LeBron James some younger support cast, willing to prove themselves in the league. Thomas and Pippen Jr.’s performances encouraged the Lakers faithful, while many claims that if things go as per plan, LeBron and the Lakers will be able to win Championship in near future.
