Lakers’ $50M offer for Austin Reaves NOT ENOUGH in trade market, alerts NBA insider
Shams Charania believes teams will steal FA Austin Reaves in the market.
Lakers Austin Reaves
Austin Reaves plays a very important role in the Los Angeles Lakers‘ success this season. The Los Angeles-based team has made it to the Western Conference Finals and is getting ready to face the Denver Nuggets. The team has come a long way from being down 2-10 during the regular season to having a real shot at the NBA Title, they have seen it all. And, throughout the run, Austin Reaves has kept balling out for them.
It’s just Austin Reaves’ second year in the league. And, he already has earned the respect of many greats of the game. This season getting an average time of 28 minutes, AR-15 went on to drop 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. And, in the playoffs, he’s averaging 15.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. He’s undoubtedly is the third pillar of the team behind Anthony Davis and LeBron James. When times are tough the team can trust him with the ball and he won’t disappoint. As he can do a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor.
Many teams in the league would like to have Austin Reaves around as their go-to guy or the star in the making for the near future. And, they won’t hold themselves an inch back while trying to land him. This summer he’ll be becoming a Restricted Free Agent and will surely be rewarded with a well-deserved bag. But as the young guard has already said he’ll be exploring his options and will be riding with what’s best for business. The chances of him re-signing with the Los Angeles Lakers are good but again nothing can be said. As NBA Insider Shams Charania believes the market will steal Austin Reaves from the Lakers.
Shams Charania on Austin Reaves’ future
Shams Charania talking about Austin Reaves’ future with the Los Angeles Lakers quoted: “The more Austin Reaves plays, the more he will make. He is showing himself to be a top-three, top-four option on this team. The most the Lakers can offer outright is 4-years, a bit over 50 million… At this point, that has to be a lock. If you are Austin Reaves, what can you get out in the marketplace?”
Further, Shams talking about the opportunities Austin Reaves can have said: “I think more and more teams around the league with cap space, like the Rockets and the Spurs, have to look at a guy like that. He is not old, he is not super young either. He is kind of in the middle of the package range… There is a concern for the Lakers that he could get an offer sheet way higher than 50 million.”
Austin Reaves has earned that bag after being on a 2-year/$2,488,776 deal. And, now it’s time for him to get the right deal. Teams will surely try to fish him out but the Los Angeles Lakers ain’t letting him go anywhere and will try to match any offer sheet he receives, as he’s one of the many reasons behind their success. And, Reaves would also like to keep balling in Hollywood with LeBron James and Anthony Davis who helped him become a star after going undrafted.
