“Straight garbage last night” – Lakers, Anthony Davis get COOKED by Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith for ‘shameful’ Game 2 loss
Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith put Anthony Davis in his right place for horrible Game 2 performance during Lakers-Warriors showdown.
Anthony Davis, Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless
Anthony Davis once again failed to have two straight good games in the Lakers’ post-season run this year. As the Los Angeles Lakers registered a shameless blowout loss against the Golden State Warriors and now have the series tied at 1-1. It was very necessary for Anthony Davis to ball out, so the Los Angeles-based team could continue winning. But he disappointed many around and didn’t live up to the expectations and now is getting thrashed by the basketball world, especially, Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless.
The Los Angeles Lakers started the game well and even had a 7-point lead in the first quarter. But the Warriors soon turned it around and went on to have two 40+ points quarters against the 47 points of Lakers. Anthony Davis had no good impact in the game on either side. As the Dubs were able to limit him to 11 points, 4 assists, and 7 rebounds. LeBron James though did his job by dropping 23 points, 3 assists, and 7 rebounds. Even Rui Hachimura followed him with a 21-point performance.
But none of that was enough as the Dubs got a 27 points blowout win at 127-100. This happened behind the 30-piece dropped by Klay Thompson. As the Splash Brothers were drilling hot buckets from downtown. Stephen Curry got 20 points and 12 assists too. If Anthony Davis balled out the results would have been pretty different but unfortunately, he continues to disappoint the Lakers Nation. But this time Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith aren’t letting him slide with their brutal takes.
Stephen A. Smith’s take on Anthony Davis’ Game 2 performance against Warriors
Stephen A. Smith didn’t hold himself an inch back while ripping apart Anthony Davis. As he was already exhausted and disappointed. The analyst sitting alongside Kendrick Perkins and Windhorst quoted: “Anthony Davis was straight garbage last night. Let’s just call it what it is: straight garbage. I mean, he was so bad sanitation workers might not want to go near him and that’s their job to take out garbage. That’s how bad he was.”
Further, Stephen A. Smith pointed out how LeBron James came out ready to win in the first quarter but Anthony Davis disappointed him too. As he quoted: “The fact of the matter is if Anthony Davis was ready like [LeBron James] they would have had a legitimate shot to go up 2-0 in this series, but he wasn’t ready to play…The effort you put forth was fricken inexcusable. It was embarrassing.”
Stephen A. Smith then brought in some stats which describe how Anthony Davis balls out in odd-number games and disappoints in even-number games. As he’s averaging 28.5 points and 17 rebounds on 55% shooting from the floor in odd-number games. And, he’s averaging 13 points and 10 rebounds on 40% shooting from the floor in even-number games.
But Stephen A. Smith didn’t just end there and even claimed that Anthony Davis would have had a hard time sitting next to LeBron James. As he displayed how LeBron James is still balling out and is all by himself with Anthony Davis not living up to the expectations and leaving the team hanging. Stephen A. Smith wants Anthony Davis to ball out as he went on to rant and criticize his game wanting the Lakers Nation to put him in his place for his atrocious performance. He wants AD to be AD instead of hot garbage.
Skip Bayless on Anthony Davis’ Game 2 performance against Warriors
Skip Bayless started his take with some perfect stats and plays. As he rightly pointed out how Anthony Davis’ disappointing performance took away a big opportunity from the Lakers against the Warriors. He also added how Kevon Looney who was ill, did a better job than Anthony Davis suiting up for just 12 minutes.
Skip Bayless also interestingly discussed how Anthony Davis and LeBron James are completely responsible for the Lakers to win. After breaking out various plays and situations the Lakers were in, Skip Bayless pointed out how AD left JaMychal Green open and then went on to say: “It’s begging for your big dog to eat. To just post up and demand the basketball early on and set the tone by imposing his will on the smallish Golden State Warriors. There’s no Kevon to go in with you… Now it’s begging for AD to just say okay fire and desire.”
Further, Skip Bayless pointed out how Anthony Davis could have had the offensive end run through him in the post but he did none of that. And, the Lakers weren’t able to win over the Dubs and even cut the lead. So now it’s high time for Anthony Davis to step up and be consistent or else the Lakers Nation would really make walking the streets tough for him.
