Austin Reaves heated against Josh Green

Austin Reaves was all fired up against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. A mild-mannered Reves is what the Los Angeles Laker fans get to see, but what version of Reaves they saw against the Mavs was very much unlike him. During the Lakers‘ win against the Mavericks, both Reaves and Josh Green got into a verbal confrontation. Players and officials come down to separate both the players. Later the Lakers’ young star said that Green said something that he didn’t like.

After being down by 27 points in the second quarter, the Lakers had cut down the lead to just one point in the fourth quarter. With over eight minutes remaining on the clock, Reaves was dribbling down the court after an inbound pass. Green decided on the full-court defence and tried putting ball pressure on Reaves. The Laker player quickened his pace and was perhaps pushed by the Mavs player.

After the ball went off Bounds, Reaves started talking trash to Green, resulting in a verbal altercation and a shove by Josh Green. After the game, although Reaves did not reveal it, he told reporters that the opposing player said something that he didn’t like. “I feel like I always play with high intensity, try to play every game like it’s my last,” Reaves said. “Something was said, and I didn’t really like it. It was a good basketball game,” he added. The Lakers defeated the Mavs108-111.

From going undrafted to being one of the most important pieces on the Lakers roster, Austin Reaves has come very far. He is not a conventional young leg, he is an excellent three-point and free-throw shooter, and he can defend across the floor. Over time, he has become one of the most trusted Laker players. Reaves showed why he is who he is against the Warriors. He was almost perfect from the field and made the best out of the minutes given to him.

He played only 19 minutes for the Lakers in a blowout win against the Golden State Warriors and within those minutes he scored 17 points on a six of six shooting from the field. Later when asked about Arustion’s performance, AD said that whatever Reaves does on the floor, nothing surprises him anymore. “He shoots, he puts it on the floor, he playmakes, he’s tough physically. Nothing surprises me with Austin,” said Davis. Since the trade, the Lakers have looked different with young legs and better three-point shooters on the floor.
