The first-round series between the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies has grown to be exciting. Fans and critics have their eyes on this series for a slew of reasons. The situation around LeBron James and Dillon Brooks has everyone on the edge of their seat. The Lakers now lead the series 2-1 after an emphatic performance at home in Game 3. James and Anthony Davis combined for 56 points and led the Lakers to a 111-101 win.
The Lakers had a record-breaking game in Game 3 against the Grizzlies. Coming off a loss in Game 2, the atmosphere in Los Angeles was charged. Although the Grizzlies were coming into the game with a win without Ja Morant in Game 2, the altercation between James and Brooks had the entire LA roster on their toes. In a phenomenal and authoritative display of basketball, the Lakers restricted Memphis to only nine points in the first quarter. The Lakers led by 26 at the end of the first period, leaving the Grizzlies a mountain too steep to climb.
This impressive performance by the Lakers caught everyone’s eye. From fans to critics to media figures, everyone was in praise of the Lakers for bouncing back from a loss and putting up a great show. Following the win, the Los Angeles Lakers’ owner: Jeanie Buss took to Twitter to respond to the Access SportsNet panel talking about her team’s victory. She paid homage to the team’s fans, writing,“Lakers fans are THE best fans in all sports! You are our secret weapon. No fan base can match your passion. Please keep doing what you do.”
Lakers fanbase demand Jeanie Buss work harder in offseason

While the Lakers fans rejoice in the team’s victory, quite a few have expressed their discontent with owner Jeanie Buss. Unsurprisingly, they made their voices heard on her tweet. Fans have been unhappy with the roster composition for quite a while now. The Lakers missed the playoffs last season and started the year 2-10. General manager Rob Pelinka made some smart acquisitions before the trade deadline and the team fought their way into the playoffs as the seventh seed. Understandably, fans have expressed concerns about another rebuild in the offseason, as a few of the team’s key pieces will become free agents:
The Los Angeles Lakers will now head into Game 4 with intentions to extend their lead to 3-1. Playing at home, the fans would expect nothing less from LeBron James and co. The young brigade for the Lakers has been impressive, with Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura putting up stellar performances consistently.
If the Lakers pull off a series win, they will then play the winner of the series between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings. However, with the Memphis Grizzlies very much alive in the series, it is unlikely that they will give up so easily. It will be interesting to see how Memphis comes out in Game 4. Needless to say, the series is far from over.
