The Los Angeles Lakers was undoubtedly the most scrutinised team of the 2021-22 season. Having being bundled with veterans and star players who have contributed in the league for years for different franchises, the Lakers were deemed to be one of the championship contenders. Yet the reality was totally the opposite as the 17-times world champions failed to even make it into the postseason.

Expected to make tons of changes in this offseason, it seems like the wave has started. So, who has gone out of the Lakers after Frank Vogel? According to Los Angeles Times, the team has not renewed the contract of Dr. Judy Seto, who was the Lakers’ director of sports performance since 2019. She had worked in the organisation since the 1990s and was also the head physical therapist from 2011 to 2016.

How can the Lakers help LeBron James, Anthony Davis in the offseason?

Now to those who are not aware, Dr. Seto developed a close bond with Kobe Bryant, who called her “indispensable” and credited Seto with extending his career, per the Los Angeles Times. She was not retained after the 2016 season but was brought back in 2019.

That being said, the Lakers need to make serious changes in their roster as well if they are to contest for the championship in the 2022-23 season. Given that teams like Miami heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors have made formidable changes in their roster to further equip their marquee stars with young studs, has helped them hugely in adjusting to the fast-paced modern-day basketball.

Moreover, the likes of Austin Reaves, Mac McClung and Kent Bazemore have huge spark within them. Will the Lakers make the same mistake by once again sending away their young gems? Or will they undo their mistakes in another way? Remains to be seen.
