LeBron James
Undoubtedly the most disappointing team in the entire 2021-22 regular season was LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers. With plethora of All-Stars and marquee scorers at their disposal, the purple and gold once again finished outside the playoffs berth. But this time around could not even secure the play-in tournament seat. As a result of which, the King has decided to deliver a major promise to his fan base.
Being the only star for his team in the 2021-22 season, LeBron James averaged 30 points per game, even when he plenty of games due to respective injuries. Now with the Lakers out, LeBron James has officially promised to never miss the playoffs again in his career. He admitted that watching these games from the side-lines is extremely painful and things couldn’t go worse than this.
LeBron James vows to never miss playoffs again in his career
It is the second time King James missed the postseason since joining the Lakers in 2018, and he admitted that it’s a painful experience. “I can/will NOT miss the post season again for my career! This shit HURT. Ok back to watching these games,” LeBron James wrote on Twitter.
To think about it, LeBron James is probably the only potential face of the league who is missing from the playoffs. While stars like Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant might be struggling to make a positive impact, yet they have not gone onto miss the business end of the league. On the contrary veterans like Stephen Curry and Chris Paul are probably leading their team to another deep run in the playoffs.
Given that LeBron’s current contract ensures his stay with the Lakers until the end of 2022-23 season. It will be interesting to see how the purple and gold management frames/re-groups a team around him. With the experiment of Russell Westbrook going down the drain, it will also be interesting to witness which players goes and in what form from the team? And who comes in as their replacement.
