“How many superteams is LeBron gonna form?” – Lakers surprisingly land BIGGEST free agent available, NBA fans crown LA as title favorites

The Lakers’ offseason has been nothing but spectacular. They have improved upon their team, which already made the Western Conference Finals this past season after defeating the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors, and the No. 2 seeded Memphis Grizzlies.

They ultimately lost to the eventual champions, the Denver Nuggets, and have now added another star to their team. According to ESPN’s Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers have signed free agent Christian Wood to a two-year contract, which includes a player option after the next season.

The Lakers will be paying Wood around $2.7 million next season, according to the report. This would add more depth to their big department, which was previously lacking talent outside of Anthony Davis. Now they have Cam Reddish, Rui Hachimura, Anthony Davis, Jaxon Hayes, Christian Wood, and Jarred Vanderbilt.

Christian Wood is a very good scorer and a plus defender and will be a great addition to the Lakers’ squad. He was the only player alongside Anthony Davis to average 20+ points and over 2 blocks as a starter last season, and he and Davis would make a formidable frontcourt.

This move would give Wood a chance to prove himself, as he was being considered a bad presence in the locker room and a bad player. It is because he couldn’t find a spot in the starting lineup for the Dallas Mavericks.

NBA fans crown the Lakers as next season’s champions after they sign Christian Wood

The Lakers already made the Western Conference Finals with the team they had, and they haven’t let any of their players go from last season but have only added more depth to their roster. Now, with the addition of Christian Wood on top of the talent they already have, many fans have crowned them as next season’s champions. Here are some of the reactions on Twitter:

Lakers would certainly have a chance to win a championship next season, given the fact that the current defending champions have lost key role players, and the Lakers have only gained more. On top of that, Austin Reaves taking the next step for them could really elevate them to the next level and finally ensure LeBron James his fifth championship before he leaves the Lakers to play with Bronny.
