Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura are about to enter the Free Agent market and the Los Angeles Lakers will try their best to retain their guys. And, fortunately, both the guys are Restricted Free Agents. The franchise knows both the guys have played an important role in their run and would like to have them back on a multi-year contract. But both, Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura will look at the different opportunities the market has to offer, as they do deserve a bag.
The Los Angeles Lakers are going to have a tough off-season retaining Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and even D’Angelo Russell. They won’t be able to pay everyone out but keeping the young core alive is important. And, Adrian Wojnarowski in his recent podcast claimed the Lakers to bring Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves back next season.
As in the podcast he discussed Game 3 and 4 of the Western Conference Finals between the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers. He also gave the young core of the Lakers their flower and the exceptional job Rob Pelinka has done around the trade deadline. Further, talking about the future of Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura, Adrian Wojnarowski went on to quote: “Both restricted free agents. I don’t see any scenario where Lakers would not match on both. They have to… They have proved themselves as win-now players… But these are both starting level players. They’ll match on them. They just cannot let them leave.”

Will the Los Angeles Lakers bring in a new superstar or ride with Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura and co this offseason?

No matter what happens with the Los Angeles Lakers in the postseason. Even if they win the NBA Finals they’ll look to improve in the summer. They would surely like to bring Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and D’Angelo Russell back. But let’s not forget about all those Kyrie Irving rumors who’s now a free agent and very much ready to reunite with LeBron James and don a purple and yellow jersey.
The front office does have a chance of landing the best ball-handler for the team. But that road isn’t easy as with the new CBA rolling out they just can’t bring Kyrie Irving in and they’ll have to acquire him via sign and trade where Dallas Mavericks or any other team would be involved and wanting the young core of the Lakers. Also, the three-man superteam strat hasn’t really worked well for the Los Angeles Lakers. And, none knows how the system of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Kyrie Irving will roll out under Darvin Ham.
Also, the franchise is in a good direction at the moment. And, they won’t really want to ruin it all by making another superteam. So the best option for the front office is to bring Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and the core back as they are very capable of balling out in a system led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis under the defensive expertise of head coach, Darvin Ham.
