The first one many changes for LA Lakers ahead of the start of next season, is to bring an experienced coach. After one of the worst seasons ever in 2021-22, purple and gold army saw themselves being thrown out of the postseason in excruciating manner. On the same note, former Laker, Lamar Odom revealed the perfect coaching candidate for the team, who could even manage LeBron James efficiently.
To those who are not aware Lamar Odom has been under the guidance of Phil Jackson before. And has seen the veteran coach handling Kobe Bryant ever so well, with his own offensive strategies surrounding around the marquee scorer. Surely, Jackson’s arrival could bring a huge change for the purple and gold?

Talking to TMZ Sports, Lamar Odom said, “Phil Jackson, I know can coach LeBron with the triangle offense. I think that would keep [LeBron] around a little longer. Preserve him a little longer.
“I would love for Phil Jackson to be the coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. If he was to come back and coach the Lakers, I think the Lakers would be the pick — the fan-favorite.”
The downside here is that Phil Jackson hasn’t coached since he retired in 2011. This was after 11 seasons at the helm for the purple and gold coaching the late great Kobe Bryant. Lamar Odom was part of that run as well, and he believes that a sensational comeback for Jackson isn’t out of the question.
That being said LeBron James stays in Hollywood until the end of 2022-23 season for sure (based on his current contract). Given that the Lakers would want the team to make a mind-boggling championship run against all odds in the upcoming season, an experienced coach like Phil Jackson can surely prove pivotal in doing so. Will we see the likes of a championship coach returning to Hollywood? Remains to be one of the most speculated moves to keep an eye on, this offseason.
