“I would just break his s**t down…” LaMarcus Aldridge breaks silence on Victor Wembanyama’s mindset during clutch moments, claims he is ‘so skilled’
Victor Wembanyama is apparently playing too fast and too hard, according to former Spurs & Trailblazers star LeMarcus Aldridge.

Former San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trailblazers superstar LaMarcus Aldridge recently appeared on Showtime Basketball to talk to the likes of Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. He was asked about his opinion on Spurs rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama.
When asked about how would he change the way Wembanyama is approaching the game now, Aldridge said;
He's so skilled, I would break his s**t down. He's like got 18 different moves, he's playing too fast right now. Slow yourself down and get two moves to go to.
Aldridge suggests that just like in his career, Wembanyama should focus on one or two moves in the game that he can concentrate on. Aldridge believes the rookie needs to get comfortable with those moves so that he can use the rest of his skills as and when required.
After going No. 1 to the Spurs in this year’s Draft, Victor Wembanyama has come under consistent scrutiny. Despite a lot of hype before being drafted, his play so far has been good, but not great. Many analysts have mentioned that this is a result of simply trying too much. That, in addition to struggles with respect to settling down in the NBA after his time in the French league has been touted as the most obvious reason behind his lack of form.
There is no doubt about the talent level Wembanyama possesses. However, it has not helped the Spurs in the way many thought it would. He is averaging 18.3 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 3 blocks per game in his first season. LeBron James, whom Wembanyama has been compared to, achieved slightly better than that in his rookie season.
LaMarcus Aldridge’s career is a learning block for Wembanyama
LaMarcus Aldridge played in the NBA for 16 seasons. He was an elite low-post scorer and rebounder who averaged 19.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists through his career. A 7-time All-Star, Aldridge was widely regarded as one of the best power forwards of his generation.
His ability to get easy baskets with his fadeaway move was his biggest weapon throughout his career. Having amassed more than 20,000 points in his career on the back of one or two moves, Aldridge wants Wembanyama to try something similar.
Aldridge thinks if Wembanyama can simplify his game, then the sky is the limit. With the advice coming from an efficient low post scorer such as Aldridge himself, there is little doubt that the French prodigy will be tempted to heed.
