On Saturday, Kelly Oubre Jr. of the Philadelphia 76ers sustained injuries to his hip, right leg and a broken rib. The injury came as a result of a hit-and-run incident near his residence. Subsequently, the Philadelphia Police Department confirmed his hospitalization. However, the latest developments on the ‘accident’ have left even the crash investigating unit scratching their heads.

Kelly Oubre Jr. joined the 76ers recently after playing three seasons with the Charlotte Hornets. He was struck at an intersection near his downtown Philadelphia home in the Center City neighborhood.

The Philadelphia Police Department is actively investigating the case as a hit-and-run incident. They remain focused on collecting evidence that resulted in the player’s injury. Nevertheless, recent findings indicate that Oubre Jr. may need to provide more precise information about the incident.

As per the Philadelphia Inquirer, two employees from a business near the reported site, having reviewed over two hours of CCTV footage from that evening, stated that they did not witness the crash.

A police spokesman, Sgt. Eric Gripp said:

The Police Department currently does not have any video or photographic evidence that depicts this collision…. we encourage anyone who has information to reach out to our crash investigation unit.

Coach Nick Nurse throws his support around Kelly Oubre Jr.

Amid ongoing speculation surrounding a hit-and-run incident involving Philadelphia 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr., Coach Nick Nurse stands undeterred. Reports indicate that Oubre, struck by a vehicle, has sustained serious injuries, anticipated to keep him sidelined for an extended period. Nevertheless, despite the rumors, Coach Nurse is standing with his players.

Coach Nurse was asked about the report that questions the authenticity of Oubre’s account of the incident. He said:

I don’t think it’s very fair to him to say that he made up some story. I’m going to believe him at his word.
