Lavar Ball’s shoe brand, The Big Baller Brand (BBB), does not have the best reputation among shoe enthusiasts and casual consumers alike. This deteriorating reputation can be attributed to his previous line of basketball shoes, which his sons Lonzo Ball and Lamelo Ball used to wear, and Lonzo had to endure multiple knee injuries attributed to the shoes, according to a report by the Los Angeles Lakers.
Lonzo, Lavar’s eldest son, used to wear BBB shoes priced at an astronomical $495, which, in comparison to other athletes’ shoes priced around $120-$160, was very expensive. Additionally, Lonzo had previously explained how he had to change those BBB shoes four times during a game in the 2017 summer league because they were defective and not designed perfectly.
Now, Lavar is back in the market with another shoe, which he promoted in a video he posted on Instagram. In this video, he announced the new Triple B shoes and a shirt that says, “Greatness takes Balls.” The shoes that Lavar is promoting are all-black with a slit on top, which the fans aren’t taking a liking to.
“Yeah, you saw them! That’s right, these triple B’s. You know our vibe is getting tight,” Ball began. “You’ve gotta get this shirt, ‘Greatness takes balls.’ Look how clean it is. Now, if you’re into fashion, get this in black and gold. I’ma tell you what, these right here, coming soon!” Lavar said.

NBA Fans troll Lavar Ball for his new Big Baller Brand shoes

NBA fans troll Lavar Ball over his new shoes. Lavar Ball’s shoe company, The Big Baller Brand, hasn’t been in the news for a long time due to the controversy surrounding the brand, which allegedly stemmed from Lonzo suffering major career-altering injuries due to the BBB shoes he wore at the start of his career. With a new lifestyle sneaker launch, Lavar might be aiming for the company’s resurgence, but fans aren’t liking his new shoes and trolled him heavily after he released a video promoting those shoes.
Here are some of the reactions from fans on X (formerly Twitter):
It’s really hard to say if the Big Baller Brand will ever achieve relevancy again due to the reputation it has developed. On top of that, whenever they release a new shoe, the price markup is so high that the people who really want the shoes are denied the opportunity to purchase them. It will be interesting to see if this new shoe line from Lavar helps his brand or if it is the final product they may ever release.
