In Saturday’s 140-126 victory over the New York Knicks in Indianapolis, Tyrese Haliburton made history by becoming the first player in 33 years to record at least 20 points and 20 assists in consecutive games. Audio from Haliburton, during the game, appeared on social media after the game. He was heard calling Wally Szczerbiak out by name after he scored and bringing up his comments from his time as a potential All-Star.

During the previous season, Haliburton was called a “wannabe All-Star” by New York Knicks announcer Wally Szczerbiak. The young guard alerted the former player that his comments were still fresh in his mind during the Indiana Pacers’ most recent game. The Pacers were going to play the Knicks in their final game of the year. Tyrese Haliburton not only won by double digits, but he also took some revenge.

Yeah, Wally.

Ultimately, the Pacers emerged victorious, winning 140-126. They saw Haliburton looking at Szczerbiak as he headed to the locker room after Indiana had taken a commanding lead in the fourth quarter.

Haliburton finished with 22 points and 23 assists on Saturday after recording 21 points and 20 assists in the Chicago Bulls’ 120-104 victory on Thursday. Along with Hall of Famers Magic Johnson and John Stockton, he is the third player in NBA history to record at least 20 points and 20 assists in a row.

Fans react to Tyrese Haliburton calling out Wally Szczerbiak

In addition to making a statement to one of his opponents, Tyrese Haliburton had an actual game against the Knicks. In addition to setting a new career high, he now shares the record books with two of the greatest point guards of all time.

For the foreseeable future, Haliburton will be an NBA All-Star, even though Wally Szczerbiak may not agree. He has established himself as one of the league’s best point guards in just four seasons.

Nevertheless, Haliburton clapped back at his critic in the fourth quarter, literally staring him down. The fans paid close attention to getting even with Szczerbiak for what he said. The typically quiet and reserved Tyrese Haliburton did something that angered fans. Even though it did not well receive his actions on the court. People’s responses were not all the same.

Szczerbiak acknowledged that was a bad decision. Wally Szczerbiak deserves praise for apologizing in public for his remarks. Still, Haliburton and Pacers supporters haven’t forgotten what he said.
