Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett compares Kevin Durant to LeBron James

Kevin Durant, during his time with the Golden State Warriors, played a significant role in stopping the Cleveland Cavaliers and, most significantly, LeBron James from winning a second and perhaps a third NBA title.

It’s on the record that James played a major, if not a key role in taking the Cavs to three consecutive NBA Finals, with fans praising his heroic efforts despite losing two of the three finals.

However, former legends of the game don’t believe that LeBron James was a better athlete. He chose Kevin Durant to be the better performer during his stint with the Dubs than the King, as he played a significant part in reviving the Warriors after they had lost to the Cavs in 2016.

The legends Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, in a recent episode of the Ticket and Truth podcast, compared and picked the “Slim Reaper” over the “King.” Pierce said that Durant was the reason the Warriors were able to avenge their shock 2016 NBA Finals loss, where they lost four games to 3 after they had led the series three games to 1. 

One of the greatest scorers, but this the thing with me with Kevin Durant. I put him at one point as the best player in the league over LeBron when he was in Golden State. And so, my expectation of him is a little higher.

While Paul Pierce has his points, in 2017, KD was better statistically than LBJ, but in 2018, James had a better performance output, albeit on the losing side.

Moreover, Durant was surrounded by the famous “Splash Brothers,” whereas James had to contend with the departure of Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics, which led to him topping the stats. Despite this, the Warriors destroyed the Cavs 4-1 and 4-0 in the 2017 and 2018 Finals, respectively.

On an episode of ‘The Ticket and the Truth’ podcast, former Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce told his co-host and former Celtics teammate, Kevin Garnett, that he could play for the Dallas Mavericks at age 46. This prompted an instant remark from Pierce in the most hilarious way.

Pierce had said

Continuing further, he added

Pierce’s confidence stems from the fact that the Mavs have had 11 players this season who have shot more than 35.0% from beyond the arc and three players averaging more than 1.0 steals per game. But considering his track record during his last season, KG was right.
