Draymond Green, known for his candidness did not hold back in the recent episode of “Throwing Bones” when he was asked about his top 5 players. He candidly answered the question without hesitating or mincing words. His rankings were as follows – LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Stephen Curry & Shaquille O’Neal. Although his words were not baseless and were supported by arguments, people did not buy what he was saying.
“MJ didn’t beat the greatest team ever assembled, Nor did he run up against the greatest team ever assembled every year,” Green said. He spoke about LeBron’s 2016 run and also shed light on the greatest Golden State Warriors team. The debate, however, has raged on for years, even without Green chiming in with his thoughts.
Talking about how people might come at him for saying what he said, he gave justification for the same too. He referred to those people as “old fu*ks” who feel he is out of his mind for keeping LeBron James over Michael Jordan. Green slammed all those people in advance.
He says the era is different and the players are much better just as the people working at Apple will be different and much better than those working earlier. According to him, nobody has ever played the game of Basketball like LeBron does. According to him, there is nobody who can do what LeBron does on the court, according to him. One such old guy was Rob Parker, who ripped Green apart for his claims on the “Odd Couple” podcast.
Draymond Green backs his remarks with various reasons
Green said that LeBron can control the game like no one else and praised him for being able to do it for much longer than Michael Jordan ever did. He praised LeBron for going to the finals, year after year and said that MJ might not have done what LeBron has achieved in terms of longevity and consistency. According to him, MJ took a break while LeBron never did, saying, “He went again and again and again again. And again.”
Although Green and James have the same agent, his claims do not lack basis, according to fans. They believe that he’s also playing in the same era as him and can see how difficult the game has become. All the more reason that Green has beaten the GOAT three times in his time, so it doesn’t hurt his legacy for sure.
As LeBron is on his way to getting immortalized in his own way like Jordan, he is all set to get statues outside the most important arenas where he has played in his career. Moreover, as he inches closer to his ending days at the NBA, he will surely try to make a greater impact for himself and leave with a bang after winning one last trophy for himself, his family, and his fans.
