LeBron James, the big brother of the sports world held out his hand for support towards linebacker Manti Te’o. As we all the know, the NFL player recently partnered with Netflix and release a documentary series titled, “Untold: The Girlfriend Who Didn’t Exist.” The storyline had several heads turn towards the football player.
Social Media is an incredibly huge part of everybody’s lives. Most NBA athletes themselves thrive with the existence of it and use it to promote various social events of their own. As beneficial as it may sound, the Web has its own mysteries and suspicious ways.
Manti Te’o on his time getting catfished
When the NFL star’s story had first surfaced the world, several peers of his stood up for him in hopes of getting justice. Investigators were hired to dig deep into what caused the unfortunate story on the other side of the screen. Eventually they termed Manti Te’o as a victim of a catfish who portrayed themselves to be somebody different and the case faded away.
Te’o however had gone through a lot of trauma with this incident. The catfish went as far as announcing the death of the character in portrayal and the athletes went as far as dedicating one of his final games in 2012 to her. The story took a wild turn soon after that and the girl, Lennay Kekua was found out and exposed.
Kekua was never real and was just a collection of fake images. Ronaiah Tuisosopo was the man behind the fake account and now identifies as a transperson names Naya. She was extremely good as portraying a female’s voice and this lead to a very deep relationship over the phone.
Manti faced a lot of speculation and was accused of being a homosexual. Of course, him it was a lot to take in considering that he was a very conversation person coming from a Mormon background. This story later had renowned journalist Katie Couric corner him on television asking him whether his sexual orientation was directed towards men. Manti was very uncomfortable especially since he was put on the spot. It was never easy for him to speak out on this story until he finally gained the courage to spread awareness on that matter.
