Gilbert Arenas and Shannon Sharpe, on a recent episode of the “Nightcap,” talked about the fantastic physical appearance LeBron James has maintained even at the age of 39. Usually, for any athlete to perform optimally, he has to be in an optimal physical condition, and the King isn’t different.
LeBron James this season is the oldest player in the league, and his longevity has even been questioned at times. James went viral for posting a response to a viral photo of his legs after the Toronto Raptors game, leading to the conversation on the show.
Is LeBron the most physically gifted athlete we’ve ever seen?Shannon Sharpe said
Gilbert Arenas responded by comparing LeBron James to Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo, where he then took note of the Lakers star’s physique, which he said is more like a football player’s due to the solid build and height. Furthermore, he highlighted that basketball players typically don’t focus on weightlifting, which has resulted in less developed leg muscles as compared to football players.
Sharpe, who is a retired football player, went ahead and emphasized the significance of well-developed legs for athletes in any sport. And for James, maintaining this peak condition at this stage of his career is another testament to his desire and will to be the best in the game’s history.
LeBron James called out for a dangerous play
While the four-time NBA Champion was being praised for his physique, another was calling him out for using the same physique as a dangerous tool. During the game against the Washington Wizards, Deni Avdija was knocked out of the contest after being elbowed by James on the side of his head.
However, the contact was a mistake on James’ part, the Wizards player was upset that the NBA leading scorer failed to check up on him.
I don’t think he did it on purpose. I at least expected like if I get hit in the face or I hit somebody in the face, I expect to go and check on him. I felt like he didn’t do it. So, that got me a little bit pissed off.Deni Avdija said to the reporters
James ended up being penalized with a flagrant one-foul for the incident, but he went on to have a strong performance. However, Avdija as the victim had a limited impact on the game.
