The blockbuster first-round series between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings has finally come to an end. As predicted by many, the contest went to the last, penultimate Game 7 for a result. The Warriors, who had an abysmal run on the road the entire season, managed to win two back-to-back away games. Golden State, therefore won Game 7 and will now advance into the Western Conference Semi-Finals. For the next round, Stephen Curry and Co. will be taking on LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Game 7 needed Curry to be at his absolute best in order for the Warriors to win, and at his absolute best he was. The two-time MVP put up a historic performance at the Golden 1 Center, putting up 50 points for his side, the most ever in a Game 7. However, Curry’s heroics weren’t a one-man show, as Kevon Looney played exceptionally with his offensive and defensive rebounding. Looney picked up 21 rebounds, making him the third Warrior to have three 20+ rebounds games in a playoff series.

As the Golden State Warriors head into the next round, they have quite a challenge ahead of them. LeBron James isn’t a new opponent to face Stephen Curry by any margin. However, the LA Lakers have been playing exceptional basketball in the postseason.

They’re on the back of eliminating the number two seed in the West; the Memphis Grizzlies. Quite evidently, the men in purple and gold are riding high on confidence. After the exciting events of the first-round series and the historical context of James and the Warriors, the Conference Semi-Finals promise to be exciting for the entire NBA fraternity

After the Golden State Warriors triumphed over the Sacramento Kings, many fans took to Twitter in excitement. This would be the first time since the 2018 finals that LeBron James and Stephen Curry will face off in a playoff series.

The Warriors and Lakers faced each other once before in the 2021 postseason; however, that was a Play-In contest for the seventh seed. Although this time, too, they’re both playing in the same conference, the competitive spirit of the older days will surely not be suppressed by both of these players. Anticipating the most exciting matchup of this season, fans on social media are going all over the place.

The air around Curry and James is swirling with the excitement of each and every person who follows the NBA. The Warriors-Lakers series will kick off in San Francisco on May 2nd (US).

Golden State will host LA for Games 1 and 2 at Chase Center before heading to Los Angeles, where the Lakers will host Games 3 and 4. Ahead of the series, the head-to-head between Curry and James is 3-1 in a playoff series. The 2022 Finals MVP has gotten the better of the four-time MVP in previous years. However, with both legendary players still playing some of the best basketball of their careers, the dice could roll in anyone’s favor.
