The LA Lakers have had their struggles compounded in recent weeks and are currently dealing with a 4-game losing streak. It has come against the backdrop of some genuinely concerning rumors regarding the head coach Darvin Ham, and the roster which is understood to have started ‘tuning out’ the coach.

LeBron James has himself been in prime form but has found wins hard to come by. The 39-year-old refused to talk to the media after the Lakers’ loss against the Miami Heat, which was understandable.

After the most recent defeat, this time at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies, LeBron was seemingly utterly dejected. The loss came on the same day that Spanish NBA veteran Ricky Rubio announced his retirement from the game.

Despite having never played at the same time, James still wanted to pay his respects to his fellow star, who retired at just 33. Asked to give his take on the retirement, James had a sullen, but respectful response.

Umm, I am not really in the mood to answer that question but I respect Ricky, congratulations on a hell of a career. If I don’t seem sincere when you see this video, it’s coz we got our a** whooped again. I apologize, so it was actually bad timing, on the interview, when you asking me this question, it’s not me Ricky, so, congratulations.

The player was quick to apologize to Rubio in advance, claiming that the timing of the interview was far from ideal. Regardless, LeBron still had only good things to say, for his former rival.

LA Lakers’ struggles have compounded in recent weeks

Toomy many Lakers’ stars have been guilty of being inconsistent this season. Anthony Davis’s mixed form has been a constant source of worry, especially considering the big-money contract that he only recently signed.

In addition to the lack of wins, the roster also appears to have run into trouble with coach Darvin Ham. Ham, after the defeat against the Miami Heat, had blamed the extent of injuries as the reason why the LA Lakers have struggled.

However, both Austin Reaves and Davis claimed after the game that the roster still had enough talent to produce wins. In the aftermath of the game, multiple reports have claimed that the Lakers might be headed to an impasse, and a coaching change might just be on the horizon, especially if the bad results continue.
